I have always felt a great fascination with Sintra. All that magical, mysterious, mystical atmosphere and full of unique and secret places. Sintra is full of stories, legends and cults that were immortalized by all the Masonic symbols present. In Sintra, nature and man come together in such a perfect symbiosis that it is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This project is divided and was developed in two partsFor the first part held in Peninha – Serra de Sintra, due to meteorological reasons, I didn't get the atmosphere I wanted, so I focused on contrast, light and shadow. So the first part of this project allowed me to explore this element. In terms of the compositional register, this project presents a “symmetrical” balance between the images. Regarding the harmony that can be expressed by the variety/difference between visual elements. They present a distribution of weight and shape, resulting in more stable and dynamic images to give more intensity. The contrast allowed me to accentuate and reduce the light gradient between high and low lights. The directional light source helped me define contours, shapes and textures. Finally, I used shadows as complementary elements to the subject, creating a complex compositional game of areas of light and shadow. The second part of this project achieved the desired and desired weather conditions from the beginning of this project. For this second part the scenarios used were the Monserrate park and the Convento dos Capuchos, A cloudy and foggy environment, the atmosphere that creates my fascination with Sintra, where diffused light is the main source of light and which is characterized by a tenuous, soft and non-directional light creates soft, gradual and low-contrast shadows, there is a softening of brightness, reflections and details. The “volumetric” accentuation of shapes through a smooth transition between light and shadow, characterized by sfumato. I used classical music as inspiration throughout this project, which was essential for the construction of this narrative.
